We have no hesitation in recommending Dearne Valley Personal Development Centre as a partner for any institution; we will continue to work closely with them because what they are able to offer fits directly with the needs of the learners we share.

We have had numerous young people who have attended DVPDC, some who have even failed to engage with previous attempts of provision. We have found DVPDC to be a nurturing environment, taking each student as an individual and looking at their needs and requirements, giving them positive feedback and focusing on their attendance and attainment as a positive factor.DVPDC and their staff are supportive of their clients, they have even gone to collect and bring them into centre when travelling can be an issue. Staffs have good interacting skills, using these to encourage the young people to engage both socially and personally. We will continue to send our young people to DVPDC, I have asked several times can there not be more DVPDC in Doncaster.

Springwell Learning Community have been working in partnership with Dearne Valley Personal Development Centre from their inception. As a matter of course, throughout any given academic year there are always a number of pupils who benefit from attending the centre. These pupils are struggling to thrive in the even the carefully considered environment of the Special School and Alternative Academy and require relationships developing to a level so that they can then begin to access learning.Deurne Valley Centre are experts at working with these damaged and vulnerable young people who have deep mistrust of educational institutions arising from their own experiences.

At DVPDC the staff are more understanding. And there is less stress. I like working in small groups. I do Art…. But I am starting to do sport!!!

“I like the environment the space, I like freedom and boxing helps with stress and aggressive. I have a nice bond with the staff. They listen and help out. They know me. ‘ I know coming here will help me in my life, I have joined the boxing gym, this keeps me off the street. I also get the chance to help others. Since coming here I want to go to collage to do sport. I really like helping others in the gym. It’s brilliant.

I was very impressed with the good work that Dearne Valley Partnership does with young people. It is organisations like this that fill the gap between school and finding employment, putting young people on the right path and getting them ready for work. I applaud the good work of John and Jackie Irwin and their team of volunteers. Funding is a big issue for them though and they really need local business support to help them to continue their great work.

A really great Charity which is run by John and Jackie Irwin who are a really genuine couple helping our young people develop real skills and qualifications though sports and education.

Those attending DVPDC develop a sense of pride and aspiration that would otherwise be lacking from their lives. DVPDC is a truly remarkable place where a sense of believe can, and does lead to success.
